The National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality (NAP) is funding a three-year project focusing on knowledge management, including a knowledge broker trial. This project, the Catchment Knowledge Exchange (or CKE), is being managed by the Victorian Catchment Management Council (VCMC). Knowledge brokering is gaining interest and acceptance across Australia. The objective of the CKE project is to test the case that a dedicated Knowledge Broker Service will improve the availability and accessibility of knowledge for decision-making across Victoria’s Catchment Management Framework. Part of the project involves the trial -- until September 2007 -- of a Knowledge Broker Service in the area of soil health. Search the menu options on the left for more information on the CKE and specific resources available through the Soil Knowledge Exchange.

Try the Soils Discussion Board? |
|
Tuesday, 19 June 2007 |
|
The broker has identified some recent activity on the much under-utilised Soil Discussion Board (on-line forum) that is a tool of the Soil Knowledge Brokering Service trial - this sits under the Soil Knowledge Exchange menu tab. We encourage you to visit this and assist with you knowledge where you can, or to pose issues or questions to the soils community.
Though it may appear a little daunting, there are some getting started tips on how to use the forum. You need to be a registered Soil Knowledge Exchange member to be able to make new or reply to posts.
We welcome your thoughts on the usefulness of this utility.
